General Electric was looking for a way to introduce interior designers and everyday consumers to their lighting department. They needed a website that struck a balance between informative and entertaining.
Keathley Advertising and Firstborn teamed up to produce the perfect balance of education and entertainment by creating a microsite to promote General Electric’s lighting department. "What’s Your Lighting Style?" is an interactive experience designed to teach both interior decorators and everyday consumers about how lighting affects interior design. The site provides detailed product information, energy saving facts, design tips and tons of interactivity for the user to create his or her own personal lighting style.
Take a journey through an interactive 3D home where users can explore and adjust the lighting and décor to create various moods in each room. Step into your designer shoes and take the "Test Your Lighting Skills" challenge. Here, users must match the correct GE bulbs to the correct fixtures to recreate the mood in each room. Like the products you see? Users are able to create a personalized shopping list complete with individual bulb information, as well as a summary of the corresponding room, mood and fixture for each selected bulb. With a simple click, users can print and save their shopping list and take it to the store.
